On 26 May 2025, the Digital4Business consortium hosted a live Virtual Open Day, offering an in-depth look at Europe’s pioneering Joint Professional Master’s in Advanced Digital Technologies for Business. This event brought together academic leaders, industry partners, and prospective learners from across Europe to explore what makes this innovative programme so unique.

A Pan-European Academic and Industry Collaboration
The session opened with a keynote from Professor Horacio Gonzalez-Velez of the National College of Ireland, who provided a compelling overview of the vision and goals behind Digital4Business. With four leading universities at its core—NCI (Ireland), University of Bologna (Italy), NOVA IMS (Portugal), and Linköping University (Sweden)—the programme is delivered as a single academic entity. It is further underpinned by industry expertise from organisations such as Adecco, Akkodis, Microsoft, and Digital Technology Skills.
Meet the Lecturers
Participants also heard from several academic module leads:

Dr Marika Mascitti (University of Bologna) introduced the Digital Transformation module, explaining its role in building strategic and cultural competencies.

Grace Herbert (NCI) walked through the Cloud Computing module, highlighting its focus on real-world business scenarios.

Prof. Mauro Castelli (NOVA IMS) presented the Data Science for Business module, linking machine learning and analytics to strategic decision-making.

Katerina Linden (Linköping University) offered a deep dive into the AI for Business module, emphasising ethical implementation and hands-on experience.
Bridging the Gap Between Business and Technology
The second half of the session featured a spotlight on industry involvement. Carmel Somers (Digital Technology Skills) explored the importance of digital fluency, outlining how today’s professionals must understand the interplay between emerging technologies and business strategy. Matteo Martignoni (Adecco) followed with an overview of the programme’s career evolution activities, including mentoring, real-world business challenges, and work-based learning opportunities.
